With a name like Babe's Jumbo Hot Dogs, you might be expecting the run-of-the-mill frank. While we do have some of those on our menu (and they are delicious), there is so much more to this family business than just hot dogs!  

It turns out that "jumbo" refers not only to size but also to quality and taste, which means your next meal awaits at one place: BABE'S HOME COOKIN’. Our in-house butcher preps the meats fresh for all our customers who want a great-tasting hot dog without any bells or whistles on top - just good old-fashioned comfort food at its best. 

Here are some of our favorites:

ITALIAN BEEF SANDWICH – Homemade Italian beef, thinly sliced and slow-roasted in its very own juices served on a Milano French roll. Add mozzarella cheese and peppers or any topping of your choice. 

"Slocum" POORBOY -  tender, juicy steak sandwich served on a grilled Milano French roll smothered with garlic butter. Add your favorite toppings of cheese, grilled onions, pickles - however you like it. 

BURGERS – Handmade fresh, never frozen, 1/3lb burgers made to order! They have double burgers, bacon burgers, swiss & mushroom burgers, a pizza burger with marinara, mozzarella cheese sprinkled with parmesan, and a western BBQ burger that includes melted cheddar cheese, bacon, topped with onion rings. If you're super hungry, try the one-pound Super Burger!

 

POT ROAST SANDWICH – Homemade pot roast drenched in its very own juices, slow-roasted like grandma used to make, piled high on a toasted Milano pretzel roll.

REUBEN SANDWICH -  Homemade corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese & 1000 Island dressing grilled on Milano Marble Rye. Babe's also serves a corned beef sandwich on Marble Rye Bread.  

Babe's Home Cookin’ has been a neighborhood favorite. We have built our reputation on homemade food, and we will not let that go! To maintain the integrity of our company, as well as provide for future patrons, we are changing our name from Babe's Jumbo Hot Dogs to Babe's Home Cookin’.

 

Babe's Jumbo Hot Dogs has been in the Joliet area for over 40 years. What started as a small hot dog stand has grown to be a restaurant providing a vast menu of lunch and dinner items with homemade flavor and flourishing catering business. We believe in family and strive to provide a clean, fun atmosphere for families to spend time together and enjoy delicious food at affordable prices.
